High Volume Deep Drawn Metal Pressings for the Automotive OEM sector

Stroud Metal Co. Ltd have been working closely with a major European OEM automotive component manufacture to bring to market a deep drawn version of an expensive machined part.
The new customer approached Stroud Metal Co, Ltd with an interest in how Deep Drawn Metal Pressings* could be used within their area of business. At that time, the go-to method of manufacture
re for the particular component was to either to machine/turn or use plastic mouldings/die-castings.
Stroud Metal Co, Ltd, the UK’s premier deep draw and progressive metal pressings company, worked closely with their customer to design and develop a competitively priced alternative to the existing product design. Using their own in-house tooling manufacture and design capabilities, Stroud Metal brought to production an 11 stage transfer tool for their use in-house production facility using an Invernizzi 130t transfer press.
With starting production quantities for this particular component of 8m components a year with a future target figure of close to 25m component’s, this initiative has dramatically reduced the total spend for the companies’ customer and secured a long-term supply contact for high volume component manufacture for Stroud Metal Co, Ltd.
*Deep drawn Pressings can be explained as a blank of metal transferred from one tooling station to another, being deep drawn in sequence through a series of die’s in turn to achieve a desired shape, whether round or non-round which can then be further manipulated to add special features such as windows, bulges, coined features, threads etc. For typical examples, please refer to the “Our Portfolio” section of our website.
