Honouring Our Heritage, Building for the Future

There’s a new certificate hanging in our reception. It’s from Companies House, and it marks 100 years of Stroud Metal Company.

A century is a long time in manufacturing. We started life in 1926, a family business making umbrella furniture in a converted mill in Dudbridge, our machinery driven by overhead belts. It’s hard to imagine now, but that’s where it all began.

Our founders wouldn’t recognise the place today. We’ve moved into a purpose-built factory and grown into a specialist in metal deep-draw pressings and high-speed stampings, serving the automotive, plumbing, and battery markets at high volume — alongside plastic injection moulding. Our in-house tool room, where we design, build, and maintain our own tooling, is among the best in the business. Across our 40-plus presses, we produce tens of millions of parts a year, every one cleaned and degreased using zero-emission solvent equipment, then packed in a controlled, clean environment.

Along the way, we’ve brought other businesses into the fold, broadening what we can offer across both metal and plastic products. None of it would have been possible without the skill and loyalty of our people — many of whom have been with us for decades. And now, a new generation of family ownership and a fresh wave of engineering talent are carrying that legacy forward into the company’s next 100 years.
