The Stroud group of companies has accelerated its adoption of green initiatives to bring forward its 2025 Best In Class zero-carbon energy targets, to mid-2022! The first phase will see 900 solar panels installed upon the Stroud Metal facility roof and completed by the end of May 2022. The second phase will see a further 700 panels installed by the end of July 2022.
By the end of July this year we will be generating over 800kw of on-site solar power, equating to over a third of our total electrical energy usage, equivalent to us saving 163 tonnes of carbon emissions or planting almost 7,500 trees. By running a 7 day work pattern, we will also be benefiting from every on-site sunshine generated kilowatt we create, only feeding power back to the national grid during national holidays. The residue of our electricity consumption already comes from 100% renewable resources.
By embracing green energy, we believe that this makes us the first and only company in our field in the UK to adopt green energy to this extent and leaves us ideally placed to cope with rapidly increasing off-site energy costs.
Matthew Large, group Managing Director, said “Going green is not only the right thing to do but has also given the Stroud group a competitive advantage over others. Our customers really appreciate this initiative as it both helps them achieve their CSR targets and also keeps component costs competitive. It is a win-win for everyone within the supply chain and something we believe will attract new business from likeminded customers!”
